Hello All :) Havnt been on here in quite awhile, well sine my last tank crashed..
Anyways i am back up and running !!!! Current set up 55 gallon, 6bulb t5 1 marine glow atinic, 1 giesemann true atinic, and 4 giesemann aqua blue + Tank is filtered with 500gph canister w built in uv light. Powerheads include 2 x 1300gph Shkerry Aqua's and 1 Koralia 4 600gph, tank has great flow :) and filled with my new ro/di system with inline tds meter :) 0tds :)
Frag and fish free!!!!! lol nothing but several hermit and a few turbos in there.

Question.... Looking to start back up with something hardy but do i have to much flow for softys?

Am going mainly for an sps dominated tank but would like softies as well.
So if anyone has and gsp, mushrooms, Or just some unwanted frags plz reply with price :) thanks !!

I would wait a little while before you put any SPS in there, maybe before you put any corals in. Add a fish or two, see how you go, cycling-wise...then start with a softy frag that is something you'd like to keep (maybe a cool zoa or something).

I mean, I've got frags and I'll sell them to you but it'd be against my better judgement.

Tank has been cycling for 4months :) Lost a pair of clowns due to ich, would like to leave tank fish free until i know the ich is completely killed itself off :) Would like to start with some shrooms and gsp

Well, do you have a QT set up? Ich ( or some other disease) will likely be on your next fish, and it will die unless you treat it.
I've got some small kenya trees that are just sitting in the sandbed. 3 er so, and you can have them if you want them.

Do not have a qt tank set up, im assuming thats why i got it in the first place, if i do get any new fish before i get a qt tank ill give them a freshwater dip:) but no... will be investing in a qt tank soon. How much u want for your kenyas?

Good. They are a good thing to have.
Look into the Kenyas, and make sure you want them. Once they are established they will self-propagate. It can make a mess having lots of little Kenyas everywhere, but I think they're pretty. I think they're funny, cause I ripped one off the rock in my FOWLR to put in my reef, and not only did it grow and attach in the reef, but the flesh left in the FOWLR grew into a new Kenya... lol so yeah, if you still want them, they are free. If you want some macro algae, I have C. prolifera and C. mexicana I can give you. Being Caulerpa, they will spread at a decent rate, but I keep mine in the sand and have no worries. The prolifera is less invasive.

^ The tank's a mess, but thats what the macro looks like. Invasive can be nice when you control it, but honestly, I have the macro in all three tanks, and as long as it's in the sand, there's not much it can do.

Tank Looks Amazing to me :) Your Lion looks like he has plenty of room to swim. Never had any experience w micro algae before but it does look nice:) I do not have sand in the bottom of my tank am using crushed coral, (Last tank was set up w sand and it got trapped inbetween magfloat and scratched it to bits) Ive had Kenyas in the past and boy do i know they do spread like crazy !!!! I dont know if thell survive in my tank with all the flow i have. Would just like something in there growing besides my rock lol

Ok, well if it's been sitting for 4 months and you're starting with softies...it'd probably be cool.

Hollar at me if you want zoas, as I have a bunch of kinds.

Here's a link to my latest thread, which only shows a few.

I've also got a bunch of starter SPS if you want to try out some of those.

I like the evilmels and tubsblue the midas golds arnt to shabby looking either ;) got any frags of plating coral? Like a grape, or red monti?

I can get a small frag of an Idaho Grape Monti, maaaaaybe. I don't have any red montis.

Lemme ask my boyfriend what all plating montis he's got.

Also, I might be able to get a small frag of a dark purple grimace-type monti but that would be a more expensive frag.

I could get you a frag of jedi mind trick and a purple base, purple polyped encrusting monti if you're interested. $15 each I think would be fair.

Thanks. Actually, the tank's only a 55g. Long term I'm going to give him 100g.

I'm not getting macro from that tank, because I'm going through a flatworm outbreak..and that's not cool. The tank I'm getting it from has CC.

I don't think Kenyas really care about the flow... But I have all of mine in pretty low flow.

I hadn't realized how much the macro algae had grown in my big tank... lol I pulled it up, and a 6' strand came up

You have PM

Wow Steph !!! Just wow... I was thinking of a few "Small" Pieces of the micro :) aclimmating now :) THANK YOU !!!!

Everybody still alive? I thought I'd mention that you can't leave the lights off long with the macro in there. I sleep longer than I'm awake, and that means the fish do, too. The macro is always a little clear when I turn the lights on, but gets better after the light has been on.
I don't know how well the algae would do in a power outage, but I would be positioning a flash light over the tank or something.

m seeing a little white on them, will post a pic when i get off work: The Kenyas got stuck into a piece of my live rock. And the micro seems to be doing well in the current. Ive got it place in back corner of my tank, lowest flow area i could find :)
