What size tank are the lings going in?

lol, in a 1 gallon frying pan :D.

Alan, im looking tward monteray area or near bodega bay

Bobby anywhere along that part of th cost you can not go wrong and yes look out for the ling cod and sea bass great fishing

Beanhollow beach, it's just south of half moon bay. I go there everytime i go to the beach. And just in case the fish or sharks aren't biting, pack a romantic basket lunch and have fun.

when i lived in vacaville i used to fish the jetti at bodega bay. fishing and crabing was always good. its been ten years since ive been there so i have no idea if its changed.

They've been killing the perch here in HMB, incoming high tide, there's a couple of nice channels @ Rosevelt Beach.

Thanks all, but i guess plans changed, we are going to montery now :D. Hope the perch are going good there also. Josh, i alwase score big on crab at bodega, my #1 crab hole. Tuberider, i have alwase heard outgoing it the best since you can get down the beach to where the sand crabs normally hand out. Have you fished alot of outgoing? Ill lookup rosevelt beach.

i bought a bunch of surf fishing gear a while back. will have to check these places out. thanks bobbyblank for posting. now i have some leads.

I don't fish that much I do surf quite a bit (3-4 days a week, used to be 7 if weather permitted), and watch people do it year round. Around HMB we don't have channels and "ponds" like at OB, except for a couple of months out of the year, so the fish tend to rush in on the incoming tide and find whatever get dredged up by the wave action. I have fished on the outgoing tide though and caught fish. I think the main thing is finding where the perch are feeding (duh), and as you most likely know when the bite is on you can't keep them off the hook. Also, most guys from around here use a small root beer colored jig on a leader with an egg sinker up a couple of feet from the jig, and work the beach until they find a channel where the bite is on.
