Hey Guys and Gals,

The wife scored me a deal on a used 12 gallon nano cube (a hint if you have never checked out craigslist.com its worth a look once and awhile). I have made it into a home for a mantis shrimp. I have always wanted a mantis and, now I have the home for one. If anyone in their trips to LFS sees one or happens to order rock and get a mantis please let me know.

Thanks,
-Chris

Yeah, the Critter has had a bunch of them come in on the new rock they've been getting - some pretty cool looking ones too. We're actually doing the same thing you are (setting up a mantis nano) and will be in the market for one very soon. The mantis are in a tank on the bottom row, last tank in the line, freezer wall side.

Hold on....is it completely sad that I know exactly what tank the mantis are in at the Critter?

LOL, Moriah. Alot, of people think alot of what we do is sad. ;)

Thank -You, I will check on the Creitter on the way home from the swap. About that new rock they have been getting.. You notice its in their fish tanks. I guess if you buy it you would have to quarantine it for ich.

For my nano I just took existing rock, sand, and water. I am contemplating drilling the false back to plumb it into my reef. I hate though for pest reasons and such to link tanks. Should be easy enough though to just dip some water out and put new in as I do water changes on the bigger tanks.

I am looking for a specific one.. G. smithii. Dr. Ron says it is very hardy and does well in smaller tanks. It is suppose to be more active than most and has good colors. I wonder where they are getting their rock from. If it is from Florida and the Caribbean I bet they have N. Wennerae. Those are suppose to be as good as the Smithii but maybe just abit more reclusive in hiding. tampabaysaltwater.com sells those for $50 shipped to your door. Kinda expensive imo. Hopefully the Critter is abit more accommodating in price. You guys/gals didn't happen to see prices did you?

i was at the critter the other day and seen 2 mantis, they was 12.99 i think one was a yellowish green color and the other looked red. They was in one of the displays on the side close to the bathroom.
