What skimmer are you running now? Nick from City Zoo is breaking down his 37gal and he has a G-2, but i'm not sure if it would be big enough for your tank, or if he's even getting rid of it

yeah i'm the one that sold nick that g2. i'm looking for something a little bigger though! Why is nick breaking down the 37? i havent talked to him in awhile

I think he wants to set up a planted FW tank. He's got a bunch of stuff he's been building for some dude Ralph? I don't know who it is, but i guess he's got a house full of tanks in Montour or something. BTW i'm looking for a replacement for my HOB skimmer. Something huge like the Reef Octo 800s. I want to stuff my tank full, and don't want to have to worry about water quality, so i'm hoping to oversize my skimmer by at least 4x tank volume.

yeah i guess that ralph guy has some insane stuff! nick has told me about some of it. Not really sure what im gonna get. i doubt something too wild my tank is really lightly stocked
How soon do you need one. My ASM G-3 will be available in a few weeks at most. I will ask $175. I just put in a brand neww impeller and needle wheel and a new volute is on back order. It has the gate valve and recirculation mod as well as direct feed from overflow. Perfect for a 150 gallon. That's what NWRogers ran on his.

i should be able to wait that long but my total water volume is up between 250 and 280 gallons will the g3 be large enough?
I can't really say for sure. I believe Nate had his running his 150 and 60 g reeftank and a 75 gallon sump. The 150 was fairly heavily stocked. You saw the results I believe. How heavily stocked is your system? What kind of corals? Is it sps dominated? What skimmer have you been using? It is also possible to run two skimmers on thyue system room provided.

Its not really stocked very heavily. 1 small tang, 2 percula clowns, goby, and 3 bangaii cardinals. mixed reef will probably be equally stocked with sps, lps, and zoas. i have a g2 on it now and had plans on buying a bigger skimmer but havent really had much time..... I def have enough room to run 2 skimmers but i tried that before and it was hard to get both skimming. one would skim alot and the other next to nothing so i would do some adjusting and the other would skim but nothing from the first

when your ready to get rid of it just let me know. I'm def interested! as of right now the nitrates in my tank are always zero i just want to upgrade for piece of mind

Pimpinitup - My brother in law just came into town last night, and he said when he gets back home to Colorado, he is going to send me an overflow box and sump! So...what are you going to do with the skimmer you currently run? It's a G2 correct? I may be very interested in the near future! I'll have to wait and see though, because he's told me things like this before, and never came through. My fingers are crossed!

54gal, and the sump would be 10gal, but I'd like to incorporate my old 20gal into the sump as well. Max 90gal system total. And if you're running it on a 125 or 150 i'm sure it'd be great for my little tank. I am planning on maxing out my tank on fish and coral, so i'm not sure how that would effect things, but i'd like to also fill the 10gal up with rock, and then divide the 20gal between skimmer and fuge. I have an HOB fuge now that is totally loaded with pods, so i'm reluctant to take everything out and put it in a sump tank. I guess we will see when the time comes

awesome. i'll have to let you know. I'm not sure how soon he'd send it. He said he's going to include a Coralife Super Skimmer 65, but I doubt that would be all that much better than my Prizm i'm using now. I wouldn't use that prizm on anything over 30gal!
