I am new here and would like to thank Fdfiremedic for the recommendation. I am looking for a good skimmer for my 75 gallon tank at a reasonable price. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What's a reasonable price to you? Hehe we are all at different levels of income around here.

I posted questions like this over at Reef Sanctuary and I even put the max amount I could spend on stuff and all of them immediately start posting links and suggesting things that were WAY over my budget that I stated in the message that I could not go over. lol

i have a berlin skimmer i had on my 100 gal system, i will let go for a good price with pump. pm me if your interested

there are also alot of skimmers on here for sale, check them out and save yourself some coin. Used skimmers work just as good as new ones and some times even better with mods that people do to them....

well $40-50 budget for a hot skimmer dosent leave very many options.

Spend the money and put in a hang on overflow and sump then save for a in sump skimmer

skimmer

skimmer

Thats why im looking for used was hopeing maybe someone had one they had laying around. would part with for 40-50.00

In this hobby the attage of "you get what you pay for" is no better understood when dealing with saltwater. It's not friendly to anything. A skimmer is probably considered the heart of a reef system and should be the best you can buy.

I have a Modded SeaClone 150 I can give you for 40.... its by far not the best skimmer but it works.... use it untill you can get something better...

Nobody has asked is this tank set up yet? if not step back and give some serious thought as to where you are going with this tank, nothing happens fast in this hobby except disaster and a budget of $50 for a hob skimmer on a 75g will = disaster

If the tank is running them as suggested look into a hang on overflow and a sump with an in sump skimmer and the ones itzme has listed will work great for you

The tank is cycling now with live sand in it. I know a skimmer is important. I am just hopeing to find a good deal before the tank has cycled or else i will just buy a skimmer.

You are going to need to do a sump sooner or later. Mind as well do it now. I tried to bypass the sump setup when I first started also because I couldn't take losing 1g of water/day. As I got more involved into this hobby I soon realize that you have to go with a sump, especially with larger tanks. And buying cheap stuff now, you will have to upgrade later down the road. If money is an issue then do what you have to like I did when I first started, upgrade as money permit. I would recommend buying that g2 someone has for sale in here for $150, or get the skimmer from Itzme. If you are still insistent on a HOB skimmer, I think a remora c pro would be the best choice. I had a remora C, and it was just not cutting it for my 75. It was a great skimmer, but just could not handle the water volume.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it as im pretty new to saltwater my other salt tank is a 20 gallon with just a couple fish and has done well with a hob. So a sump would be the way to go than. I would be happy with any recomendations. Thanks
