Looking for a Smithii...or???

I have decided that I am ready to make the commitment to a Mantis Shrimp. I would like to get a smaller species than the Peacock. The Mantis will start out in a 15 gallon stand alone display refugium with Live Rock, and some macro algea. If I get one that I feel outgrows the tank, then I will be ready to upgrade the tank size when necessary.

I have not decided on exactly what I want, I just know that I want a "smasher" variety, and one that doesn't get as large as a Peacock.

If someone knows of one that is for sale I would love to know about it. Because here in Phoenix I am having a tough time locating one. There is a great reef store here that has a Mantis Shrimp for sale, but they don't know what kind it is. Someone brought it in and gave it to them. It's about 2.5" long, but other than that I don't know anything about it, and neither do they.

Thanks for the help...hopefully someone knows a place that is good at getting the specific species that I am after.

yeah go with tampa bay saltwater they have some good ones almost all the time

Thanks D.P. that link worked perfect and I recall their site. I have been to it before, several months ago. I would sure like to find one locally for less that $50...as they are normally about $10. But this might be the only option. Thanks for the help!

i would go with that, im sure you can talk to them about shipping it for alot less but its worth a try and they know what they are doing during shipping

tbs is a good place to go and it will get to your door next day packaged good i got my wennerae from only to end up having my lfs get a mantis i ordered two months before i ordered a peacock and end up with a smithi for sure and a Haptosquilla stoliura far as i can tell
