Looking for an octo...HELP

Ok,
So I have a 75 gallon with LPS and softies, and would like to add a cool octo that would interact with me when I fed. Also would like one thats not nocturnal. My tank is almost sealed on the top, and would not take much to seal completely. Its an established tank. There are just 3 fish in there, and if they got eaten, I would not be mad. Would it bother the corals, or would the corals bother it? And where could I buy one from online? Please help.
Thanks,
Bill

Try stomatopod.com. I know they have a listing for octos, there just aren't any there. I'd assume they get some in and just don't update the list often. Perhaps shoot them an email?

I have checked about 7 websites and all sell them, just none in stock. Thanks for the replies, anyone can help with the other questions?
Thanks

And if they are stinging corals you cannot use them either. I say best would be a 30gal and get a pair of merc octopus in a fowlr tank. Then all you would need is a big skimmer and powerheads aimed at live rock

I have an O. vulgaris in a 50 gallon. i ordered O. briareus but you never know what you are going to get. (very difficult to identify) I set up a 120 for her and hope to be moving her soon. As stated above, softies are fine, stay away from stinging corals. Any fish kept with an octopus will eventaully become food. I would recomend you stay away from O. mercatoris (dwarfs) they are strictly nocturnal will only emerge in complete darkness. (you mention you want a diurnal octopus) With your large tank I'd go with O. briareus or one of the larger species. I purchased several from www.tomscaribbean.com he is out of stock at the moment. It is more common to find them between Oct/March but we see them avaliable here and there all year. Tom gets them from crabbers, the crabbers would otherwise destroy them. I am grateful for guys like Tom who sells them to hobbiests and in turn less are plucked off reefs. My current octopus is very interactive. My only regret is not getting one sooner. It has been very exciting and rewarding, my entire family has enjoyed our octopuses. Visit Tonmo.com and check out the journals listed w/species.

Thanks for the info. I did check his website. how much does shipping usually runf ro him? his prices seemed very reasonable. Too bad they are out. I am going to try to get on a waiting list and see. In the mean time, I will sell off the stinging corals in preperation. Are the O. briareus or O. vulgaris good shippers? Also, do you need a completly sealed tank for them? Will they crawl up the inflow to a canister filter?
Thanks for all the info.

His shipping isn't cheap, they need to be overnighted and are shipped in a condsiderable amount of water so figure between 50-60 for shipping. Mine arrived in very good condition but there have been losses. Don't be alarmed if they arrive missing an arm or two, very common and they grow back fast. I have provided links to my journals, read through them and others found on Tonmo, will give you a good idea what to expect.
I recomend you join, there are many members who know more than I that would be more than happy to help with all your questions. :)

Oops...Definately need a sealed tank. As a matter of fact Diablo got impatient waiting for food the other day and crawled out through the open top. I was right there but got the water cannon as I peeled her off the glass. It would be too sad if one was lost due to an unseccure top. Intakes and outputs can be covered with plastic screen secured with a plastic zip tie. I had mine covered but Diablo removed them, she plays with/takes apart everything. They are extremely intelligent and curious, a dangerous combination.
