Looking for ideas on light placement and luminarc size.

OK I will try and post some video's tonight.

Now that I have tested all three my choice is simple. The big Luminarc's will work the best for my application. I am glad Beefy and Dirty stopped by last night so they could see in person what I was talking about. The lumenbright although brighter right in the middle leaves the sides of my tank like the dark side of the moon. With the big Luminarcs the center is not as bright but pretty darn close. The positive is now the whole width of the tank is lit leaving me a lot more usable places for my SPS.

Oh and I almost forgot!

Big thanks to PK1 for letting me borrow a couple big Liminarc's to test with...

canar, i just wanted to say good going on finding out things for yourself and testing different reflectors. In my humble inexperienced opinion i believe that hans is correct in what he said, lumenbrights if you want a lot of light in the middle, lumenarcs if you want an even spread that will cover a bigger area. you have confirmed this with your testing and im sure this should quiet down some people. Too many reefers get caught up in a numbers game or brand loyalty, i say go for what works best for you. Im sure your not looking for the fastest growth out there, but just a bigger area for your sps corals to be successful. Not everyone wants the fastest growth in the shortest time possible, after all we are hobbyists not stores out to make a profit. Sorry about the long post and i hope to see that big tank someday. :)

Well said.
Faster growth would be nice, but not if you only have a handful of corals growing. :)
