Hello, I have a pair of Percula clowns, they have been in my display tank for 2 months after one month in qt. The large female, almost 5 inches, has been hanging near the top of the tank for the last 2 days sticking her head out of the water every couple of minutes and hasnt eaten either since this started. There are no obvious signs of infection or parasites. She occassionaly swims around the tank goes down to the bottom, usual fish stuff, but she seems to be fixated on one corner of the tank popping her head out of the water.
The smaller male is acting like normal, eating well, no other fish in the tank seem to be ill or acting funny. Tank is 150 gallon 6 foot length, about 200 lb of live rock, the tank has been up and running for almost 2 years now. Havent had a death in tank since february when I had a tomato clown die. current fish list is a bi-colored foxface, tomini tang, blue chromis, pink spot goby, spotted mandarin, blue throat trigger, and coral beauty which have all been in the tank for over a year. the clowns were the last fish introduced into the system. Its a fowlr set-up though I do have a piece of bubble coral which has been system for quite some time. Running 2 xp3 filters, have a deltec hang-on back skimmer. I do have hair algae which seems to be a never ending battle but again, the current fish have done well, no problems.
My tank has been running warm, getting up to 82 degrees yesterday so I took the glass covers off hoping it would help cool the tank down and turned off the lighting, have metal halides, but once I took the covers off she jumped out of the tank. I immediatly put her back in the tank and she doesnt show any "problems" from carpet surfing but I am just not sure what is going on with her. I would hate to loose her because she was so big, the reason why I purchased the pair to begin with. I have had no aggression issues with any of the current inhabitants or territory disputes so I dont think its "stress" related.
So I think something is going on with her but I hate to get crazy pull her out put in qt tank etc when I dont really have an idea what is wrong with her.
