Looking for info on local wholesalers.

I'm in the process of ongoing research for a new business partnership involving aquaria.
I've already been in contact with ORA as well as some out-of-state wholesalers.
Right now I'm looking for any contact information for any other freshwater, marine, and drygood wholesalers in the local tri-county area.
If any of our members has any information that might be of use please pm me.

Of course, it goes without saying that if this thing becomes a reality, all current FMAS members will receive a nice discount on any purchases, and anyone who may have helped out with useful startup information can count on an additional discount on top of the FMAS member prices.

Hi Koiscapes,

I'm looking for marine stock (corals, fish, invertebrates, plants), freshwater stock (sao), and general dry goods wholesalers for right now.
Eventually I might be interested in equipment, tanks, and furniture, but the business plan is to keep the scope narrow for the first year.

Drygoods, you might want to check out Sunlight Supply, since they're right here in SoFL. Also there are a few wholesale only growers in the area, but to be honest I don't have the information on them, or who they sell to, or what they sell, but I do know they exist (as I'm sure you do as well).

Thanks guys, we've already applied for state aquaculture certification, resale tax id, federal ein, ficticious name (dba), and city and county business revenue (occupational) licenses.

What we're looking for now is a list of wholesalers, preferably with local facilities or reps.
Dropshipping capability for equipment and dry goods would be a plus, but not neccessary.

The hard part has been finding local livestock wholesale dealers, both importers and growers, especially corals.

Thanks gasman, I'll add reefcreations to the list.

YOu don't need the aquaculture certificate unless you, yourself(your entity) is growing it. Who ever you are buying from needs the cert., if they are growing it.

If you are just buying and selling you need the retail.

Thanks again, Manny.

Good info, Matt.
The cert isn't directly for the retail business, but it was necessary for a small breeding project that's already in the works and also a prerequisite for a submerged land lease idea we've been kicking around.

Right now I'm just doing the legwork to make sure that all our legal bases are covered, and gathering a list of suppliers to compare before we move to the next step.
