***looking For Live-rock Donations.....lol

the fish bowl gets the same rock everyone else gets- it seems - jbj fiji rock - you can mail order threw ebay for the same price almost and they will ship it to you

Hey Seth I saw you tried to message me i cleaned out my pm box. sorry i must be popular or something thats a first ;p lol

If its fiji in the orlando area, its most likely bought from oceans direct (thefishbowl). 3.98 is pretty darn cheap. Also Reefworks carries the fiji rock from oceansdirect, and they sell it for 4$ a lb too with a 8% orca member discount :)

Reefworks is in lakemary which is where bootstrap lives too, maybe you could make it a combo trip. :)

$4 a pound is nto bad a ta ll, but i think i am just going to wait til one of you guys on here sells your tank and sells the rock for only $2 a pound, that is when i pounce......lol

I would personally say, sell some stuff to be able to buy it. Most all of us bought our own rock too. Personally, if I was your age, I'd stick with a nano and save my cash up. I wouldn't do anything to big till you have a job that can easily support it and still be able to go to school and get a degree. Maybe talk to a fish store and see if they will sell you some at cost in exchange for some work.

Good luck either way.

man, i was just about to start asking for parts for a 540g!

have to agree here also Seth. I would love to have better stuff on my tank, but upgrade as i can afford it. I have plenty of DIY rock to sell cheap, but live way over here on the coast. Sounds like you are limited to local walking travel.

Think about this. You are stepping up a good bit from a nano you just set-up (right). There is no problem getting the tank started and adding to it next month, year. Think about it, SeaWorld didn't start as it is today. Get your game plan together, and execute it as you can afford it. So you can't handle a tank for or SPS right now, but you also won't crash a $4000 tank next month either!

Also, mail order sounds like a better approach for you.

here's another method for you.

i heard this story about a person who bought a car with a stick of bubble gum. To keep it real short here. the person chewed the gum and trade the wrapper to another person for something, tradeed that for something else, and so on, until they were able to trade something for the car. ( i think they sold the last thing to get the car, but who knows) So maybe think about trading stuff off. Like wait till that mushroom splits and trade it off for a couple pounds of rock, and so on!

and maybe keep an eye out for a moped to help you get around.

who knows what your bubble gum wrapper will turn into!
