H. californiensis can be bought in fish markets. they are sold once a year i believe.

I gotte say that they are an incredibly bad stomatopod to own. The longest anyone has kept them is like 1 year, and that was in a lab. They get some inexplicable fungus infection EVERY TIME in Dr. Roy's lab (to my knowledge). They also need a 90 gallon tank.

You won't find O. cultrifer. They are very rare and even if you do find one I would recommend giving it to Dr. Roy. He has been looking for them for a while and he was willing to trade one for a stomatopod from his lab I believe (assuming the specimen wasn't currently being used for research)

I've never seen a C. dubia for sale. Wouldn't be a very active species anyways.

If you want O. latirostris you might as well include O. havenensis. They are very similar in many ways.

O, and you can get O. havenensis from sealifeinc.net . Stomatopod.com has had O. latirostris in the past.

just to add, H. californiensis needs a coldwater tank as well. I would suggest G. ternatensis for you. O. havanensis can be a great mantis but is sensitive to water quality, especially dissolved oxygen. But if you have that down, then I would probably go for an O. hav myself.

I must say, this is a rather odd collection. What inspired interest in these particular mantis?

I saw a C. dubia at the LFS. I arranged to get it shipped to Dr. Roy for an ID. This is the specimen on the Roy's List page for this species.

Well i just wanted to raise some unique stomatopods. If i can find any of the ones i am looking for, i have a 125gal tank that i cant set up in a decent amount of time to house it. Im just looking for more stomatopods to raise if anything. I really find joy in raising ma peacock. Its rather shy, yet still loveable and im hoping all the stomatopods i come to raise or like that.

All mantis have different personalities, so hoping they are all somewhat alike could be dissapointing. Still I find that it's more fun to have different personalities with each one you get, brings more intrigue. GL finding the mantis you are looking for.
