Hey guys,

I am new to the hobby and I already have ich because I'm a moron. I was hoping I could meet some successful and experienced salt water aquarists out there that are close by!

Bridgeville PA here.

I'd suggest linking up with the club. There's some real good folks in your area. And I doubt that you're a moron. We've all made mistakes. The key is to learn from them.

I'm not really close, I live in New Ken, but the bread guy is right. There's a really good group of people in our club. We can help with the ich problem too. There's a good sticky in either the NTTH forum or the Reef discussion forum, but it will take some work. All the fish need to be removed and put in a hospital tank and treated. The tank should sit "fallow" (no fish), for a certain period of time, (specified in the thread). This will allow the ich to go through it's life cycle and die off in the main tank while the fish are treated.

Hey there! Thanks to both of you! How do I 'join' the club? Secondly, I am still not even sure the fish has Ich. The fish looks great, and I am pretty sure it may not have been - but I am not sure so that's what bothers me. I had to go bet something to reduce stress on fish in case it is, but how will I know for sure? I feel like I almost have to wait to see if I see it again (because I don't know what I am looking for besides little white spots) What I seen look like granulated salt but I did not see it for hours, it went away so fast and I read it could have been the fish being a little stressed out from the acclimation, even the LFS told me that could be the case - but to be safe I bought the stuff.

Then I have all these people in here telling me to go buy 40 gallon tanks and setup all this stuff that I just can't do. Finally today someone told me I could make these in home depot plastic bins which made me feel much better but at this point I feel like i need to wait and see if this truly ich. One thing I have learnd so far is I will definitely building a quarantine tank before i put another fish in this thing.

check out The PMASI facebook,

https://www.facebook.com/groups/pmasi/

I think you can "join" on that Facebook page. We are pro-rating membership and I think it is $20 for the rest of 2017. If you want to post questions there I can approve the post.

Hey done. If you are looking to make sure it's specifically me you will know from my fb avatar - I am a musician in a successful rock band (you will see me requesting the fb group invite) per your request.

Thanks so much Acer!

Reading a lot on the topics will help. Also just getting more experience.

I was lucky I started at a young age and had freshwater fish for years before jumping to salt and even then I still struggled. I wish you luck

Hey there! Yes I have had fresh water fish for years, even tropical ones. I do understand a lot, but there are a lot of things to learn in the saltwater world I am learning quickly, like a sponge. But it would be great to find someone close by who also does this to bounce back and forth ideas, or even have a beer! :)
