Looking for new skimmer - replace Aqua C Remora

Hello all,

The last skimmer I purchased was 10 years ago and was an Aqua C Remora HOB unit. The Remora has always been 'OK' but not really done a great jo of controlling algae or oranics in the tank. It seems to skim 70% of the gunk in the tank but leaves enough for problem algaes etc. So Im looking for a new HOB skimmer.

What I need in a skimmer:
Must be HOB
As 'set it and forget it' as possible - the Remora certainly is this.
Overflow proof - the tank (30 gallon) sits on wood floors.
Quiet - the tank is in our family room.
Power outtage proof - we lose power approx 3x a year. The Remora restarts itself at these times as it needs no priming.

I'm looking at the Reef Octopus 1000 (how about the '100' version?) but it sounds as if losing power would be an issue as it needs priming to restart. Ive been out of town when power has gone out. Ive also read it could flood if started unattended. Also, is this skimmer too big for a 30 gal tank?

I think I got my moneys worth out of the remora over the last 10 yrs and now I want to try something new.

Any ideas?

Thank you.
