Hello,

I am looking for a PC light for my 55 gallon. Does anyone have one that they would like to part with or know of a good deal on a PC setup?

You can usually get good deals on Ebay and most are name brand like Jebo. I just saw 260 watt 48" fixtures for around $100.

I have 4 pfo 96 watt retrofit units if you have a hood to mount them in. I have only had them installed for 2 or 3 months now. I am taking them out when I go with my brighter MH's let me know if you are interested, they should be more reliable than ebay units since they are the PFO brand.

How does the PCs compare to the T5 lights? I saw these on Ebay

T-5 Bulbs last much longer
they run considerably cooler than PC (you won't burn yourself like you can on PC)
and with the right reflectors they actually put out more light than a PC. Flat reflectors don't do much with T-5 lights, but Sunlight Supply and IceCap both make reflectors designed to take advantage of the T-5 design and get morelight into the tank. The Sunlight Supply reflector is ( M ) shaped, this allows the light shining straight up to be reflected around the bulb and into the tank. A flat reflector will just reflect that light back into the bulb.

T-5's are much better lights, they penetrate the water better, and you can keep a larger variety of corals with them. They are also much cooler running than just about any other light source. I run them as supplementation to my mhs and you can hold your hand under them without getting burned.
