looking for pickling lime

I'm looking for pickling lime in the independence - cedarfalls/waterloo area.

I've heard the Amish sell it.. but I would rather know of a store in town.

I had looked all over Des Moines and could not locate it. I broke down and ordered from the web at this URL:

I found "Mrs Wages" pickling lime at Hy-vee in Davenport about
a month ago.

Not sure in your area but for anyone looking for it in Des Moines area I bought mine last year at the Dahls on Hickman, between Waukee and Des Moines.

Mrs Wages Also ... beleive I saw it last week there.

Hy-Vee at Crossroads has it!! It's on the top shelf now because it's more of a seasonal item. They had Ball brand this Fall and now only carry Mrs. Wages Ihad to ask where it was the first time I went. Walmart has it in the Fall.

That's EXACTLY where it's at! On the top shelf. I bought mine there after asking Lori where it was at too!

I bought a big ol' canister of Ball Pickling lime probably two years ago at Sam's Club. I'm amazed to this day that I was able to get only ONE can as opposed 38 of 'em shrink wrapped together.

I'd say keep looking at HyVee where the others have indicated.

It was there alright... aisle 5 right about the muffins... only $2.55 for 1lb.

I have found it at the Iowa City HyVee and the Coarlville Hyvee at various times in the cake/muffin area, but it does seem to be a seasonal stock item. They will order it for you if you ask.
