Looking for Reeflux 10k....

2 questions really,
Does anyone have a slightly used Reeflux 10k De they want to sell or trade?

Do the SE and DE bulbs burn the same color?

After seeing RacerMikes tank, I think the reeflux 10k may solve my color issues but I am sick paying full price until I know for sure its what I like. I am sick of "testing" bulbs at full price :).

I know you don't want to hear this, but bulbs really don't necessarily fix color. There's unfortunately a lot more to it. They may help, but really there is a lot of complexity involved in getting the best and right colors out of corals. The issue in our hobby is that we don't know where on the reef our corals came from, and don't know comparable quantitative observations of how much light our corals are wanting/needing to produce their true colors.

Until we figure out more about the lifestyle of a coral in nature, I guess we'll just have to stick with Reeflux :p

Oh, I am not looking to tweak my coral color right now, I meant the aestetics of the tank, what colors pops, what doesn't etc. Right now I am either too purple or too blue from a pure overall tank look.

Oh okay that makes sense then. What bulb were you running before? I thought you were doing 10k XM? That shouldn't give too much purple or blue. It'll highlight pinks, and oranges, and your T5 actinics should do the blue/purple bit. The 10k RL is a sweet bulb though, and I'm a believer now that I've seen it on Racermike's tank as well.

I was using the xm10k, hated it, washed out colors too much even with full blue actinic.
Know I use the PH 14k, its very blue bulb. I really wanted a 39" T5 that puts off the same color as the reeflux, but cannot seem to find one. So since I know that the reeflux adds some red/purple without too much, it would be a good balance with my "Blue" actinics.

I can understand the original confusion. For me coral growth is secondary to viewing enjoyment. Dont get me wrong, there is very little difference between healthy, well growing corals and a good looking tank, but it seems like bulb selection can be one of the variables.

Hey Dale,

The color of the 10K DE is not the same as the SE 10K. The DE is more yellow/white. I have used both. The SE 10Ks are on the main reef and the DE 10K used to be on the frag tank but I just switched the bulb two weeks ago to the DE 12K, from Reeflux.

The DE and SE 12Ks look the same.

HTH,

Mike

Oh, man, I forget what the frag tank bulb color was. I

When you said the SE/De 12ks look the same, I am hoping you meant that the the 10k SE and the 12k DE looked the same. Is that the case?

Hey Dale,

The 12K SE and DE look exactly the same. I saw Matt's tank and he has the SE 12k and I hae the DE 12K. Both of these are over our frag tanks. The colors are identical.

Now the 10Ks are a bit different. The DE 10K looks more yellow white and the SE 10K looks how my main reef looked the day you saw it. So there is a color difference in the DE and SE 10Ks.

Bawla,

I hae never seen the 150W personally but I have seen the 175W DE 12Ks in person. They look identical to my 250W DE 12K, just a little less intense but all the colors appear the same.

I am really happy with these bulbs and have experienced great growth from the 10Ks (SE). The 12K is nice as well produces nice colors but is more on the blue side. I cannot say enough good things about these bulbs!

Ok, so now the question is, does anyone know a DE bulb that will produce a similar color to the Reeflux 10k SE?
