Looking for RO and Saltwater

I'm pretty sure most of the LFS's sell both RO/DI and pre-mixed saltwater. I know for sure that The Reef Shop has both.

A RO/DI unit is a good investment.

I agree with that! Even though most LFS only charge $1.50 (MOL) for 5 gallons of RO water, there still is the cost for gasoline, jugs and general annoynace when you need water after store hours...

When I bought a cheap TDS meter, I found that RO water from the LFS often contained 50-90 ppm of dissolved solids.

After I bought my own inexpensive RO/DI filter (eBay), I have seen zero TDS in my water. It was a great investment!

I"m also a huge advocate of having your own RO/DI unit. I bought mine used from a member here and it's been running strong ever since.

They can be set up in a very discrete manner too. Mine is resting on towels under a table I built beside my shower. The lines are bundled and run into the shower and either up or down depending on the line. The water inlet is screwed to an adapter that ties to a shower head splitter, so switching is very easy.
I'm in an apartment, so 100% removable was a must. I'm there with mine and it only cost me about $15 extra for the fittings, line extensions and unions for the line.

Well that's not what Steve told me at one point. If that's changed then great, thanks for your correction.

I'm with you! I had major algea issues when I first got started and it was from several LFS water " High tds", Not bashing them or naming names but I don't trust thier water any longer. A good RO/DI unit is worth it's weight in gold. If you buy premix ask them to test it before you buy it. so you know if you need to raise or lower any params. IMHO
