looking for sand stirrer snails at lfs

does any one know if any lfs carry these looking for the large size if possible like the one from this link but would be interested in other types too.

Most LFS will have those, have you looked at your local shop? If not, I shop at Hobbyland on rt 52 in Joliet, and he has a lot of the large ones.

Steve at Reef Plus in No. Aurora had a bunch of nass snails (good size) a while back - He also carrys / carried aquacultured (florida?) conchs

They're doing a great job keeping my sandbed clean(er)

The Conch's he had, how big do they get? Are they similar to fighting conchs? I am looking for one of those.

Not sure how big he'll get though - Hope not very much bigger, he's living in my 10g reef!

I went and looked him up. He'll get about 4" long. Hope you have a bigger tank to move him to! If not, I'll take him off your hands when he grows too big!

You seriously have to get out and travel to different stores. Hobbyland in Joliet, has to be the worst LFS that I've ever seen in my entire life, and I've traveled a good part of the state to see different LFS.

His tanks are cloudy, fish are sick, lots of cyno bacteria in tanks, he does not believe in using a protein skimmer (although he thinks that if your going to use one, the seaclone is best), everything is expensive, and the owner has no clue what he is talking about.

I know you have mentioned in other posts that you don't like to make the long haul, but trust me, and everyone else on here, it's worth the trip.

I don't think you will find any serious reefers that will recommend Hobbyland.

Get out and adventure and get some good livestock for your tank.

Oh and I forgot to say, that he recommends staying off the internet, because people are "paid" to say things to ruin the LFS business here on reef central.

Very few lfs will have the tongan nassarius.

Ocean Design at Irving Pk and Narragansett had some though a week ago, incredibly for the same price as regular nassarius. The Tongans are the way to go.

He had at least a dozen in the store.

Great snails, MUCH heartier than the vibex.

You folks who are saying you have gotten them locally, are you SURE they are the Jumbo (Tongan) Nassarius snails? The "foot" on these is about 5x larger than that on a vibex.

These snails are not just large vibex. It is a different species altogether. And a much better one in all respects than vibex.

Living Sea Aquarium has some for $2.50 a piece. They also have some Sand Conch's for $10.

You're right, I don't get out too much to father shops. Working full time and going to school part time doesn't leave much time left for traveling to get fish. Hobbyland is close, they have what I need, and I've never gotten a sick fish - of course, I do low salinity quarantine, too. When I am looking for something specific, I may venture out, but it works for what I am doing now. I've also found, too, that if you know enough about what you are buying, and don't need advice, there's no need to take what he says with more than a grain of salt. Thanks for the advice, though.
zoebeaglezoe, I'm just telling you what I know. I was in Hobbyland the other day, they have the latge tongan nassarius snails.
