Looking for some copepods

Anybody have any copepods to spare or know where to buy some? I'd like to populate the refigium tank.

TIA

Shoot, I don't think any stores in SF have any in stock right now. The new store (Ocean Treasures) and 6th Ave booth carry it.

if you come to the next meeting I'll bring some chaeto, and see if I can't shake some pods out of it.

Can't make it to this meeting - family stuff to do.

6th avenue............, Okay, I'll check it out.

last time the tiger pods worked great.... this time no luck, mike shake them loose for me... Ill take all the pod I can get ... Im going to try to mate another pair of mandarins so Ill pick them up at the meet.

I'll see what I can do, the shaking them loose is still a theory now but it seems everytime I took live rock out and stuff they'd fall loose, why not chaeto?? :)

I know Alvin, I wanted to try to shake some pods free before I told you I'd have some available.

Unfortunately taking my block o' chaeto out into a bucket only did one thing and that's let a bunch of gunk fall back into my refugium, nothing of note came out in the bucket though unfortunately except more gunk, I'm sure there might be pods in there but I couldn't see any obvious ones.

So the best I can do is bring a buttload of chaeto (which I planned anyways) and those who get some can hope for the best.

Sounds like your talking about amphripod to me. Almost all copepod species we have in our tanks, either are far too small to be seen when shaken out, or, their far too hairy to do that too ;)

Well I'm talking generically of 'pods, but yeah the amphipods are the big suckers, the copepods (decapods?) are probably in there somewhere... although I have seen some swimming around. Lets just call them reef bugs and be done with it :)

Can't, sorry. I work for PHD's that verbally smack me down if I say "pods". You don't classify corals with a blanket "coral" name do yah?

"What's that?"

"Green hard coral"

Nope, most have progressed beyond that. Try progressing further now, and being a tad more correct. Calling an animal by it's real name, isn't that much to ask far, now is it :D

Well actually ...

"What's that?"

"Acropora" Wasn't that long ago (still happens) places of business label corals "Acropora sp."

"What's that?"

"Staghorn"

:)

but you get smacked, I'll simply say I have various pods in my tank, and maybe various squigglies, I'm not going to try to classify every organism in my tank. I'll say i have seen without a shadow of a doubt seen amphipods, mysis(mysid?), decapods (10 legged buggies), and have squirted tigger-pods in my refugium, beyond that I make no claims nor promises of the products held within my chaeto mass :)

Too true, I stand corrected

I wasn't even thinking of export price lists:

Colorred acropra sp.
Gem stone
moonstone
velvet coral
:D
