looking for tanks viewed from 3 sides?

looking for pictures of larger tanks (230g) that are viewable from 3 sides. I need ideas on arrangement of rock and other flow issues from people that have been there and done that!
thanks in advance

Thats pretty simple. Id make it at least 36" deep back to optimize the 3 side viewing. Just keep the rocks away from the glass, maybe make one sort of mound/island so the fish can always swim around them, thus viewable from 3 sides.

120x36x30 before I broke it down had 60 fish and 60 corals and still looked empty 1/2" 3 side starfire bottom 3/4" outside overflow.

nyvp...how often did you have to do water changes.

20% a month to 6 weeks

nyvp....wow!! fantastic tank! Love the aquascaping. I am a big fan of anthias also! I never thought of the 3 pods of rock. It gives lots of spots to grow out coral. Lots of gorgeous fish.

I am curious on the circulation. How is the wall against the wall done? IF you had to do it over again on the circulation what would you change?

thanks so much for sharing!

I don't have mine set-up yet because we are trying to buy a house around the tank. It's a 280g viewable from three sides...72 x 30 x 30 Euro-braced 5/8" glass with a Calfo on one end. It's drilled for a OM 4-way 8" off each corner of the bottom. The CL intake is just below the Calfo on the same end. Can't wait to get it set up. I got some nifty things for the canopy...automation :D with 16" of unobstructed access...can't wait to start the build thread.

Your pictures are inspirational! I tore my tank apart.....removed the corals and then removed the rock. I installed a manifold and buried the piping under the sandbed to help with the circulation. I now have 3 "piers" of rockwork to set coral on! My fish are estatic!!! I am having trouble getting my rock work to stack securely. I have plenty of different sized rock but am concerned of it toppling over once it gets some height.

Has anyone ever used "LOCTITE MARINE EPOXY"? It sets/cures in 50 minute; for use in underwater application. I was thinking about glueing 2 or 3 medium size pieces together at different angles. My thought is the different angles would help "lock" the pieces together to allow me to stack higher safely. My tank is 36"deep so I would like to take advantage of the extra height to get as many areas to set coral for grow out.

As a precaution, I will put the newly glued rocks in a 55g tank to allow them to cure for 24hrs before adding them to the display tank. Maybe I should add a chromis to be sure it is not toxic after 24hrs??

What is the BEST WAY way to secure my LR? I hammer drilled some pieces to attach with zip ties. It was way to time consuming and hard to do! I love the look of my rock so I don't want to cover it up with foam project!

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!

This is mine that's been up since January.

It measures 84x36x28.

A single horizontal overflow runs 2/3 across the end at the wall.

There is a single 3/4" return in each upper back corner (total of 2)fed from a pair of Eheim 1262's plumbed externally.

There are also a total of 4 Votech's- 2 stacked vertically below each return nozzle to create a wall of water coming down both sides of the tank.

Rockwork was created with numerous pass-throughs underneath so the water coming down the sides from the Vortech's and the returns can come back up the middle thru the tunnels in the rockwork.

The open rockwork works really well and the water creates quite an undertow in the caves as it heads back towards the wall. However, I have noticed that having the 4 Vortech's all at one end causes them to work against each other when they are all on at full blast. There is so much turbulance and suction at the end by the wall that the water coming out of the pumps competes with it's own reverse current. I actually get more water movement at the opposite end of the tank with 2 of the pumps in the anti-sync mode.

Just Dave, that's a sweet system you're rockin there. I had considered doing the same thing but all my spare space was already spoken for. Try as I might, I just couldn't get the wife to agree that our daughter would be perfectly happy sleeping on the couch :(
