ok, we got a small piece of this from Sea in the city, as pictured here. Several years ago we got a smaller piece from Doug at Oceans Blue. I know OB had a main display tank with this all over the tank.

Someone has to have some of this stuff or atleast know what i am talking about. I know this isn't the best picture. It has a pink stalk. the tops of the "petals" are white. They are about the size of a zoanthid, and look like a cross between that and a clove polyp, but short like a zoanthid. It grows from a mat kinda like star poylps, but not as solid.

I think i have a couple TINY spots of it left, looking to get some more. It all died in our main tank, as did ALL xenia. And the anemones got most of it in their old home. Now i have room to add more.

Sure looks like clove polyp. There are several different types...some very short stalked like the blue/purple variety...some with longer stalks.

Anthelia was my second guess...kinda looks like it as well. The only reason I go with clove polyps is anthelia usually is a solid color, where as that looks to be a different color head to stalk. Of course, I'm now officially old and my eyesight maybe deceiving me...lol. I did have a lot of blue anthelia a while ago, though. But, then again, I've had a lot of clove polyps as well. Can you describe the color Ben?

What about Tubipora musica, Organ pipe coral? Are those stalks hard at all?

Pic I had online:

Although the heads look similiar, the stalks in the pic are too long and thick. Tubipora heads basically stick out of red, hard stalks. Gorgeous coral though...one of my favorites!

the stalks are soft, very much like xenia.

Anthelia - this sounds right, but not sure. i know there is a long "flowing" xenia that is named something similar. (see far right middle of picture)

THe stalks are individual, the don't seem to spread off each other like pulsating xenia. it does look very close to and may be a clove.

these look like it snowed on them, with pink stalks and underside.

dose it look lie this

dose it look lie this

i got this at reef works ask chris he still might have some moe

Looks like anthelia. Stuff grew like a weed. I don't have anymore but I did give it away for free. I gave/tossed a ton away. It is by far worse then xenia.

Jay, it's not the same stuff you had growing over your tank. It grows very similar to a zoanthid, not like pulsating xenia. This stuff looks very close to the clove in moedocker's picture. it doesn't have the "step" in the stalk though. and the top is totally white, not just the center part.

I have a branch of red sea xenia that I fragged off...$5 and you can have it...The stuff is already splitting...
