I would be checking tank parameters not light. It could be too much light, but without knowing everything it is hard to say. Do you know your nitrate, phosphate, alkalinity, specific gravity etc cetera?

This is why I am seriously thinking about a no substrate display tank - using sand in the refugium only.

Sounds like a very good approach.

Thanks, Kevin and Jaime. I have not tested the water yet. I think there are multiple causes here, possibly due to sudden change of both light and water conditions, even I acclimated. Other corals in the tank have been doing great.
