Being only months into the hobby thus far I've been purchasing the pre-mix water.
Then, several weeks ago some good soul posted a notice about the Instant Ocean salt sale.
At that, I purchased 2 buckets (to make 160g each) for $25 plus a $10 mail-in discount. At <$.10 per gallon now I am a self mixer!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Is such a sale an annual thing, or a periodic event, or a once-in-a-lifetime fluke?? -I am curious since I am trying to get a realistic gauge of my future expenses.
How do I find such opportunities?? -The RC group (like this time) or get web postings from the local fish stores?
I'd like to be prepared with a rain-dance routine for the lemons to rain again . . .
Thanks
Tom

I've never seen a sale like that one before, ever. I wouldn't plan on being able to take advantage of something like that again. Best 'normal' deal is when DrFosters puts it on sale, offers a gift certificate for future purchases, and you get free shipping.

I'm betting that sale was a massive screw up on someone's part. Seems just toooooooo much of a discount for a normal "lost leader" type campaign.

Could be...a local gas station inadvertently set pump #2 to $0.89/gal. It didn't take long for the word to get out...everyone in town filled up everything they own before the store figured that out.

They may be getting rid of saltwater all together. I know my pet smart doesn't do salt anymore but do carry salt and a few other items. I'm wondering if it was just a way to get it out of there inventory.
