Looking into new lights for a 75 gallon waterbox

I currently have 2 AI prime HD's. They are a little over 2 years old, but have been starting to overheat more and more frequently. I have taken them part and cleaned them, barely any dust on them, fans and screen look clean. That being said, I am starting to look at some options online.

Giesmann Vervve one (2). With two mounting kits, total is about $750.
Kessil A160WE (2). With two goosenecks, about $550.
Kessil A360W-E tuna (2). With two goosenecks, about $750.
Kessil AP700 (1). With mounting kit, about $850.
EcoTech Marine Radion XR30W (1). With 1 mounting kit, about $750.
EcoTech Marine Radion XR15W (2). With 2 mounting kits, about $1000.

Key things for me, I want to buy lights that I will not (hopefully) have to upgrade in a few years. Keep current coral style (some SPS, mainly LPS).

Thoughts?

Literally anything on that list will do what you are asking of it. This choice is just up to personal preference and price at this point. Good luck with it though. I'll gladly take those used primes off your hands if you didn't want to go through the hassle of disposing of those faulty machines yourself [emoji6]

I vote the Kessil AP700.

Now that I've voted....so much for the whole "œcheaper in the long run" idea.

Lol ok thanks for the feedback. The ap700 looks awesome. I'm also debating the pros and cons to have 2 or 1 fixture. Less mounting, but if the whole unit goes that's it, sort of thing. To ourcoralreef, yes this is a 35" tank. I've had kessils before and have really liked them, but it's funny how even two 360's are cheaper than the ap700. I like the xr15's, but idk if I want to be over the 1000 mark. Already this is a tough sell to my wife.

I grow everything on your list with two VISPARSPECTRA CBB's 165w for $300 bucks, and that's Canadian dollars, in the US, it's about 210 delivered to your door by Amazon.

2 years old now going strong, can't hear the fan whatsoever, hoping to go 10 years!

But, true, I can't change the colour spectrum (good thing as I know nothing about mixing spectrum) and my fish don't get a lighting storm.

Corals said I don't care just give me light, consistent in intensity and colour thanks.

I could never understand, why people would spend thousands of dollars to put a light over a glass box which creates salty humidity, the nemesis of electronics....

I just set the same tank up and went with the 2 xr15 with brackets. I like them so far but it's obviously too early to give an actual opinion on them. I don't think 1 xr30 would work on this tank. I don't think it would be enough to cover the ends, for one, plus the overflow is kinda in the way of having it directly in the center of the tank.

For what its worth, I browsed the used forums for awhile before biting the bullet on the ap700. As it turns out, i was very lucky to find one being unloaded brand new in the box for $550. Never know what deals you may find. Could find some used with minimal use and save a few hundred bucks. As long as they are under warranty, no risk, really.

How long have you had it, any review so far?

Leads me to my other question, will 1 setup actually provide enough coverage, or would 2 be more beneficial. Also if for whatever reason the tank size changed, the multiple could be used where a 36" setup, is a 36" setup

So stay with the kessils in my book they are the same if not very similar to the xr15
I have xr15 and they give me very good growth couldn't be happier

I like tge ap700 the thing is i like the option of having two and being able to move them to get light into all the shadows thats why i went with the xr15 instead of the 30s

About 2 months now. So far so good. Set my own program to simulate sunrise and sunset and I love it
