It depends on how much degree pull down you need. The streangth of a chiller mainly is measured by BTUs (British Thermal Units). More BTUs the stronger the chiller. You can find charts that will give you the degree pull down ratio to Gal/room temp/BTUs.
JBJ is a very good brand. I have one and I work for a college that uses them exclusivly in the Marine Bio. Dept. that keeps all colder water fish.
If you're searching for info on JBJ chillers - They're spelled Arctica, not artica. Although you'll probably get as many hits with the misspelled name.
Chillers seem to be dependent on your tank size and budget. 1/4 HP sounds like a decent size for that tank. I have a JBJ arctica that I've used for a little over 2 years, and I love it. FWIW.
I was between an Arctica and a Current USA Prime Tower chiller.
I went with the Prime Tower and its doing great!!
JBJ is very popular and every lfs in Miami (summer temps around 95) has JBJ. Must be for a reason.
JBJ also has a sizing program on their website where you plug in your info and it tells you what size chiller you need.
