Looking to connect two tanks

Hello, I currently have a 45gal and a 29gal sitting in the garage. I didn't know if there was any diy or how to threads on how to connect these tanks. I'd like to put the 29 next to my 45 and use it as a frag/quarantine tank. TIA

You could drill both on one side put a bulkhead in and connect them with hard plumbing between the two bulkheads you should also put in a ball valve since you also want it as QT.

you can do this a number of different ways. I have a 40 gallon breeder plumbed inline as a "display fuge" on a stand for my 90. You can have them share a sump, or if each successive tank is lower than the previous one, you can have the drain from the 45 flow into the 29, then have the 29 drain to a sump that feeds back to the 45. This is how I have my 90 and 40 breeder connected.

If you are going to use it as a QT tank then you dont want them connected...
Yep. But if you want to connect them as a frag system then a sump with spit return and overflows to the sump will work great. You could do a sps frag tank in one and light with MH. The other could be for softies and lps light by T5 or PC. You could even use just one as a frag tank and the other as a fuge and link both of them to a sump and larger display tank.
