I was looking to buy a 10 gallon tank at walmart for 10.00. I want to start a Nano tank. I saw some cool DIY projects of here. Can anyone tell what I would need to start this project. Tank sand LR filter ect. Has anyone done a successfull one. Let me know what you started with using a 10 gallon tank

I'm with stewie on this one. I kinda went through all the same thoughts you are going through and decided that I'll save alot more money, so I bought a 24 jbj.

what diy are you trying to ask about.... if it a tank just do it man. there is nothing like "building" your own versus buying the pre-made ones. the pre-made ones are easier starting out but the diy's i do give me more of a satisfaction.

I want to build a DIY Refugim out of a ac 110 filter. I m new to the hobby and Im kinda handy. I would rather build then buy a nano cube or APod. Also would I need to do a refigum. Or could I just use a AC filter. If so what size. Would the AC30 work. I have a fresh water tank that has a AC30 on it. I was just trying to get some ideas

You could run a AC30 with a sponge and carbon, although sponges are nitrate sinks so you would have to rinse out the sponge every few days. I think turning a AC110 into a fuge for a 10g is a great idea.:)

If you do plan to keep corals in this tank then it would be best to keep low-light hardier corals, such as Zoos, and Mushrooms as they are great for someone new to corals.

What would you like to keep in this tank?

mostly soft corals leathers poylops zoos mushrooms. No hard corals. Im setting up a 55 gallon tank up also. I just thought a small 10 gal. For my office would be great

I got the master cube 10g off from Ebay for $60.00 + 14.95 shipping, pretty much plug and play great setup for office

Do use a DSB what ever you go with. Check out the photo of my sump. I have about 8 -10in and my tank loves it.
