I have a red sea star thats been in the tank for 2 weeks now and as I was modifying my eclipse hood to fit my remora skimmer (which came out real good) it fell and when I went to pick it up to put it somewhere else and also to look at it w/ out taking it out the water, I turned it around and it looked like all its gut were sticking out of the middle, I think it might be in it last moments, anyone know if this is normal or any ideas on how to save it if need be. Please LMK

well, you're supposed to take stars out of the water and expose them to the air. secondly, it could've been in the middle of eating something, they pull out their stomach to engulf food. also, if you could post how long it's been in the tank and how long it's been up?

It never came out of the water even when it was acclimated it been in the tank for 2 and a half weeks, and the tank has been up for about a month now and I know these stars are very intolerant to unstable parameters, but I learned that after the lfs duped me into buying it. happy to hear that it normal about the guts, any info onthese guys will be great.

whoops, i didn't see the w/o taking it out of the water part, my fault. but yeah, give it some time to relax and then update us!

Normally, they starve to death in a tank that small. Starfish of all sorts are constant eaters. Their digestive system is very very primative. If you want to feed it, see if you can get it to eat fresh clam meat from the supermarket. You can buy them live in most any major supermarket.

If I am reading right you put this start into a 2 week old tank is that correct? That could be your problem. The star will need a mature tank with plenty of things to eat. IMO I would probably take it back and wait a while for my tank to settle down.
