Loosing my anthias

I have recently lost my male square spot anthias and all the female is hiding and not coming out of rock work. I dont see them coming out when feeding the tank. Is this normal?

Square spots are one of the touchier anthiines. What are your tank dimensions, parameters, tank mates? Missing a lot of info here.

Also, in this case; doesn't anthia's change their sex if there are no males in the tank? I thought a read that somewhere, so shouldn't one of his females change?

How many do you have/had? 1 male? and two females?

Tank size and feeding are very important factors in keeping anthias. They require a large tank, pristine water and frequent small feedings. If one of them is hiding, I wouldn't worry too much, unless it goes on for a few days. My male seems to always be out, but the female hides frequently...just watch them closely. As for them changing sex, it's usually done in a group setting, where the alpha fish takes on the male role.

Ok cool, I am going to be ordering some Dispar Anthia's probably only three for my 90 right now, I am running a 90rr bow front, with a 100g rubbermaid sump in my basement, then connected to a refuge, frag tank that is 55 gallons, so I have alot of water.

The total system is a lot of water. Your display tank is kinda tight for full grown squarespots and "some Dispars" how many other fish are in the system?
