Losing colour (RBTA)

My RBTA has been in my tank for about 6 mths now. paratmeters are excellent (I know you'll want numbers but those will have to wait till later).

Anyway... the past week he's been hiding under his rock during peak light hours and coming out late afternoon. I'm running LEDs and he doesn't come out till they're at 45%. (108w LED in a 22" deep tank and he's near bottom by his own choice)

So he's losing his nice flourescent orange colour and has lost his bright pink tips. I've got 2 BTA's side by side (again by their own choice). A flame tip and the BTA. I have a pair of clowns getting ready to mate which feed the BTA's and do their thing with them.

To my knowledge I don't have anything in the tank to have chemical warfare with the BTA (no carpet nems or anything), Nothing touches it other than the flame tip BTA (who has great colour and comes out during the day).

Could the clowns be over feeding the nem?
Could he just be getting ready to split? (Though May-June is his normal split time)

Any ideas?
