Loss of light effectiveness?

I have a standard 75g running to approx 20 gallon refugium. I do not have an ATO yet and am getting a ton of evaporation so I was thinking about putting some 1/8 or 1/4 inch plexi over most of the tank to reduce evaporation. My question is...How much light would I lose from my Kessil AP700 by doing so?

Really depends on the quality of the plexi, but you're probably not going too lose any significant amount - just make sure you wipe any residue off it regularly

some plexi warps pretty bad when exposed to humidity, I say just get a bigger ATO jug less maintenance and no light loss.. but that's just me.

I had a 3/8" thick by 12" wide glass center brace in my old 180g tank. It was so old the salt had actually etched or frosted the glass slightly. When I switched to leds and got a PAR meter I tested PAR beside the glass brace and under the glass brace. PAR went from 550 down to 530. At 12" deep in the tank there was no real difference in the PAR reading as both were about 225.

thanks

thanks

Thank you so much for your input. Those good hard fact about PAR are exactly what I needed.

Thank you for your input. I did brace the plexi around the edges by gluing some plexi strips. I am working on getting an ATO but I spent a ton of money on lights ans stuff so it will have to wait until next month

Thank you , your input is very helpful. I will keep it wiped down and see how it goes.
