Lost a Bartlett's Anthias

I have no idea if he's a victim of poor health or violence. I have not even found his remains. I just know I haven't seen him in about a week.

So now I'm down to two. Do you think I should replace just the one or go for two or three more? They are $40 each, and I just had to buy a skimmer and pump, so cost is a factor right now. I'm also due for a bucket of salt. :mad2:

With Anthias it's best to have one male with a harem of females. More than one male and they'll likely fight and show aggresion to one another.

It could be you have more than one male and the dominant male is keeping the other guy in hiding so you don't see him? Or he's met a violent death. Or any number of things. But keep in mind, if you add additional Anthias, more than one male Anthias may mean trouble...

Check around your tank very well. They are known jumpers. I also had 3 and 1 jumped about a month ago. The remaining 2 have been fine together.
