One of my Fairy Wrassee that is in quarantine for Ich has lost his buoyance. I am treating with copper only. Anything I can do to help him correct this, or do I just wait it out? He is eating well, just cant keep his down and level for long periods of time. Lays on the bottom when resting no problem. Just cant keep his balance.

Any suggestions?

Interesting, I just dipped my Pink Faced Wrasse for 45 minutes in Formalin 3, and I have the opposite problem, she started floating.
She swims down and places herself under a ledge in the rockwork to remain still.
I dipped her yesterday, hope this goes away:eek1:

No one seems to have any ideas on what to do. So I started treating with Maracyn-two to treat any unseen bacterial problems. I hope this does it. Keep me posted on your problem. Good luck to both of us.

What is the pH of the water? What copper are you using? What is the copper level? Are you testing the copper twice a day?

Here's the details.

12 gallon QT tank
Temp 81
SG 1.025
PH 8.1
Water changes of 50% with (matched parameter water) every other day.

I am using copper safe and Maracyn-Two - both by Mardel

copper is measuring 1.5 to 2.0 ppm.

The fish may just be weak from copper poisoning. I love many Mardel products but not Coppersafe. IMO, it may be the poorest choice in copper medications. I would never use anything other than Cupramine by Seachem, but then I don't use copper for ich anymore. I use hyposalinity.
