well it's been about 5 days now and still no sign of my mandarin i belive it fell victim to the carpet

If it makes you feel any better, I added 1 3 weeks ago and haven't seen it since.
I also added a reef-lobster about a month and a half ago, never saw it again, until last week.
Mandarins feed on pods, which mainly come out at night. Have you tried the red-LED flashlight in the middle of the night yet?
If you don't find the madarin you may be suprised at what you do find.

I used to see him all the time even during the day and now nothing 6 days now

Mandarins can be very hard to care for most of them will only it live food that comes from your live rock and you've really gotta have a lot of live rock to feed this things good enough to survive.
So my guess would be it starved to death, or as you said your anenome ate him.

mine has been missing for a week or so but i have tone of pods... they are in evry sponge and all through my rock and in my bio balls...so i know mine didnt starve..
