As the title says, I lost my cleaner shrimp. We purchased a cleaner shrimp last night, aclimitized (sp) him did everything...put him in the tank, he set up his shop...now this morning he is NO WHERE to be found. Only thing I can think of is he went under a rock somewhere.

I didnt think I could loose him with the tenicales and everything, but hes no whre to be seen.

Anyone else ever loose there shrimp?

Wow this happened to me too...just last week. He disappeared and hasn't been seen since. I have another cleaner in the tank so hopefully they don't cannibalize each other.

I cant afford to go out and get another cleaner. -cleaner shrimp here are not cheap. I hope he comes out from somewhere.

Did you look in your overflow box (or whatever that thing is called in the tank where the water flows out to the sump)?
I had decided my clown had escaped, and found him swimming around at the bottom of the overflow...guess he got a running start and dove over the top.

One other thought, I had a hole that I didn't know about in a artificial (hollow) piece of rock; my cleaner crawled up in it and was missing for awhile, only came out at night.

no, its in the 38g. and my overflow isnt your normal overflow. There is really no way possible that he could have gotten into it. -i glanced at the sump, but didnt really think to much of it. I will take another look tonight.

My rock is VERY pourous so im thinking he might be in there. i have searched high and low for him throughout the rest of the tank though....

I have 4 peppermint shrimps and I only ever saw 3, always together. 1 was 'missing' since the day i put it in.

Cleared out all my rock last weekend to catch fish; there he was. Three on one side of the tank him on the other.. My loner shrimp

I dont want to remove my rock to find him. I hope he comes out soon...I bought him to clean my fish, not hide under a rock. lol.

It is normal for cleaners to hide after being acclimated and put into new surroundings. Give it some time. They are initially nocturnal but will learn to come out more especially at feeding time.

mine hid the first day too, he'll come out eventually, and you dont have a fish that would eat him do you? i have 2 emerald crabs but never see them at the same time so i might have just one, it annoys me, also my shrimp doesnt clean my fish yet but he does go nuts for flake food so look for yours at feeding time

Its been almost 3 weeks, and that guy still hasnt shown his face. Also, my tank had a bit of a disaster so all the rock had to come out of the tank for a night, and he still hasnt shown up. I have also looked for him at night with the red lens, and he is no where to be found.

I absoulty have no idea where he is. I've made a ruling that it has disappeared.
