Loud 6205's

Hello,

Today I installed my 6105 and 6205 pumps on my new tank. The 6205's are making too much noise. The 6105's are much quieter but nowhere near silent. Is there anything to be done about this? I bought these over vortechs because I thought they would be quiet.

Also one of the 6205 power supplies is not working. I used the power supply from the other 6205 to check that the pump works OK but nothing from the power supply.

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

The power supply we can send a replacement for, that is no problem. I need more info to solve the noise problems. Did they include the new silence clamps? Are the props blue or black? How thick is the glass they are mounted on (the stronger 6205 magnet clamps down harder and transmits more vibration on glass less that is 1/2" or less). Did you install the rubber feet on the magnet holders?

Roger,

They do have the silenced clamp (blue rubber pieces?), the props are blue, the glass is 3/4" thick. I did install the rubber feet.

I read somewhere about an 18V version of this pump with a larger impeller to reduce noise. My power supplies are 24V. Don't know if that matters.

Thanks,

Dave

6205 are 24V, 6105 is the only pump that is 18V.

My guess would be the titanium shafts may be bent, try removing the metal shaft and rolling it on a table and see if you detect any bow or warp in the shaft.

Shaft was not bent but after I put it back together and in the tank it was a bit quieter. It is barely noticable at low rpm but still somewhat noisy at higher rpm. Not nearly as aggravating as before.

Will they get quieter over time or is this it? When i hold the pump in my hand it is silent so I am quessing it is vibration from the mount that I am hearing.

How do I go about getting another power supply?

Thanks,

Dave

Give it a few days and make sure the front cover is completely engaged and not loose.

PM me your address and I will send a new power supply.
