Low light corals, anemones etc??

is there anything that I can start off a reef tank with low lighting. I set up my first reef tank just yesterday and am now in the planning phase of stock list while I allow it to cylce. I am not going to be buying a serious light fixture for about 6 months, and for the time being will be using a 65 watt CF light fixture with a 50/50 bulb. Is there anything that I can grow with this light??? something really easy??? any anemones, corals, polyps ????? anything???? I just want something to have to look at while I wait for better light

there are somw mushrooms that like low light, and if your willign to feed it i think sun coral doesent need light at all

in what tank the 65??? id say no if you want something to look at get a couple of fish...unless u plan on upgrading the lighting sooner than 6 months cause by that time i belive whatevr corals u put in there would be dead or dying... like i said start with fowlr for now untill you have the proper lighting

but how will they do in such a young tank??? most corals require a mature tank

yeah i would wait before putting corals in there. even if you do get a coral that requires low light, it will certainly do better with light, and inexperience coupled with an immature setup equals trouble!

Anemones under no circumstances should be placed under low light. They need good lighting and a mature tank.

Since you have a 65G which is 24" deep you need a good strong light that can penetrate that depth of water. At least a halide, or T5 set up on oreder to support the majority of corals.

This early on I would start working on your fish wishlist. Then start researching about whats appropiate for your size tank, and make sure they are all compatible with each other. Then I would slowly start adding your clean up crew after the tank cycles, then maybe add some fish. Then once you upgrade your lighting start adding corals.

Kenya tree, is perfect. Im rockin a 55 gallon w/ elive 48 led pod strip. It only starts out at 10 but i added to hit 20 total pods now. And my kenya tree does awesome. It doesnt like a whole lot of flow. Just adds movement to tank. People say they grow like a weed and can be a problem corel i say BS! ITS FINE THROW ONE IN.
