Low specific gravity.

Can low salinity cause sickness. Popeye. And other eye issues like cloudy eyes. My coral beauty has both eyes swollen, my yellow tang has one cloudy eye. Both are eating. They where not acting normal. Spending most of the time in the reef instead of in and out like usual. I checked my chemistry. Everything was perfect except phosphates .25 but specific gravity was 1.020. Did 15 gallon water change (75 gal tank) salinity went to 1.021. Is the salinity the cause of the sickness. I had a royal gramma die for some reason. Again is the low specific gravity the cause. Please advise.

As for the LTA , anemones like consistent water parameters . I would say drip a concentrated salt solution over a slow period of time while you are there to monitor it . bring salinity up gradually so as not shock it further. That is probably why you are having issues with that . As for the fish, that maybe an illness and I would move them to a hospital tank . Fish can be treated in hyposalinity over a month at a lot lower salinity. So my guess that it is not going that big of issue causing them to hide . Usually an illness can cause them to hide . Could you post pictures of them ?

Cloudy eye is usually sign of infection or flukes that have reached the eyes. Any other symptoms like yawning, head shaking, gasping for air or flashing (rubbing against sand/rocks)? Usually a 5min fwd can confirm if you are dealing with flukes as well as give some relief.
If dealing with infection erythromycin or kanaplex would need to be administered for a min 10 days must be done in qt.

Lower salinity does not cause sickness in fish. In fact, most fish are transported in 1.019, kept in 1.019 ish at LFS, some believe thus decreases sickness.
Big increases causes stress which might lower the fish immune system. By big we are talking about increases above .002 per day.
When fish behave out of character, they are either frightened or sick.

I transport fish at 1.019, and QT them for 15-30 days at this value. Only when they are ready for the DT do I start to up the salinity by .001 ish per day until DT target is reached.

So the fish did not die from 1.020 salinity...
