Lower flow and corals look and expand better

Well like the title says when I cut off one of the k4 powerheads(i usually have 2 running), about 10 min later all my corals have like double pe even the sps and the acros. I can understand why this happens for the lps corals but I thought the sps and acros like high flow. So I also wanna know does good pe also mean good growth since the polyps are out longer for maybe better feeding.

With one k4 running everything stil gets even flow just less of it. I was thinking of keeping the second one running but just pointing to the back so there will be no detritus build up. So anyone have any answers or experience comments please i'd really appreciate it.

this is why alternate flow is better but it's hard to do with koralias until hydor releases their smart wave wavemaker in august. I am seriously itching for this product!!!! It will supposedly work with the evolution series as well as the magnums. Not sure about the k4s though.

I have seen some of my LPS swell up huge when I turn the pumps off... I guess I don't associate bigger being better (insert joke here).

Nice and puffy vs. shriveled is definitely better, but after a certain amount of polyp extension I am happy. I have also seen corals reach for the light - this causes them to grow bigger as well but I don't think that is a good thing either.

I always aim for my LPS coral to dance in the flow.

Just my experience, maybe some others have some additional discussion

Happy Reefing!
