Lower PH?

What's the best way to lower ph? I added chaeto to my fuge today. A few hours later I noticed my skunk clown freaking out. Swimming crazy and running into the glass very hard. I checked my parameters and the ph spiked to 8.8. Why would adding chaeto make my ph go so high?

Nevermind. I tested my ph again and it is 8.3. Probably messed my drop count up but my clown is still running into the side of the tank. Actually sounds like someone is throwing pebbles at my tank.
