According to science, they're all stony corals + polyp size does not signal anything which can be lumped together.

Hobbyists split these two types apart, but given there are many exceptions to this `rule' ... some [myself included] tend not to like the SPS/LPS classification as it doesn't take each coral variety as unique [which in my experience they are].

Just my opinion - some find these names useful.

SPS- small polyp stony
