LPS Coral Urgent Help

Hello, does anyone know what is happening to this coral? This seems to progressively be getting larger over the course of a few months. At first, I thought it was just the corals mouth but should I be concerned about this? How can I stop this from happening or reverse what has happened?

Sorry for the blurry picture. This is actually a friends coral and he asked me what was going on. I told him I would ask you so he just sent a picture through a text so I apologize once again.

What kind of coral? Candy cane?. Does it close up at night?

looks like a dying Trachyphyllia to me. I've personally never seen one recover from that state. Any coral nipping fish or inverts in the tank with it?
