LPS Prop Tanks?

I originally made this post in the propagation forum but there hasn't been any replies yet so I figured I'd post it in a higher traffic forum:

I've been looking to make a prop tank for some time, but I'm just curious to why I haven't seen any mostly LPS prop tanks?

Maybe I've missed them or just looked over them but all I really see is softies and SPS tanks.

I'm living in Australia right now and every fish store I go to has most of their stock of corals all ripped right out of the ocean. I would like to do what I can to help the reefs here by having my own propagation system.

Mostly that's because LPS take a long time to regrow after being fragged (since their polyps are bigger, it take longer to reform into something resembling the original colony). Softies and SPS grow faster and are more immediately recognizable after they've been fragged.

But there are certainly people that propagate LPS too - where do you think all of those polyps of acans, duncans come from, as well as those frags of chalices, favias? If you're talking about the more run-of-the-mill LPS like anchors, torches, candy cane and the like, those can also be easily propagated as well though the market for them is not as big - but they are certainly resellable back to your LFS for store credit.

Does anyone have any links to or at least pictures of some mainly LPS prop tanks?

it's not really practical to propagate lps corals because of their growth rates. "LPS" in the genera Fungia are among the most commonly fraged specimins, I don't know that I've ever heard of any other kinds, maybe some euphyllia's like trumpets (i think trumpets are euphyllia....not sure now that I say that)...

anyways, good luck finding an lps frag tank, I'd like to see something of the same, but I don't expect we will.

It's just a personal preferance for me, I'm really not into most of the SPS corals I've seen. All these zoas, and acros, and montis just don't appeal to me. Is it just that they propagate so quickly that they are so much more popular or am I missing something?

I've had an E. divisa (frogspawn) in my tank for about 2 months now and it's grown maybe 50% larger, I've noticed 2 new heads growing on it.

Trumpets are in the Caulastrea genus.
