Can anyone tell me if fiji base rock is okay for the only type of live rock that is in your fish tank or do i need to get the so called premium?

because some base rock looks just like premium but with out some of the cool colors and stuff

Yes. Plain live rock is OK. The main difference between different types of live rock is esthetics. Some is more porous and lighter, but it mainly depends on the look you are going for. It will all turn purple eventually,provided with the right light and water quality.

Well, most fish really don't require any light. Your veiwing pleasure is all the matters with a FOWLR. However, if you want the rocks to encrust with coraline, stronger light is better. Some people will tell you that NO (Normal Output) flourescents will grow coraline, but I've never had coraline grow with them. At a minimum, IMO, you need PCs. VHOs would also work.

I agree Figi is good rock. Very porous. also PC lights work fine

You could get a little premium and the rest base rock. The lighting system for FOWLR is a matter of preference, no certain lighting needed. With that said though, if you want to see the colors in the fish you will want some decent lighting.
