Fellows,
does anybody remember the place or name for LR down in Tarpon? I'm looking for some "cheap" with decent forms.Any input?
Thanks:D

I don't know the name but a couple of weeks ago I called a LFS in Tarpon that I saw someone on here say had live rock. I got the "do do do - we're sorry the number you are trying to reach..." So I don't know if they are still open. Although, I could have called the wrong store or something.

Good luck and let us know what you find!

AJ,

I assume you mean Tarpon Springs? I live just outside of Tarpon and the only LFS I am aware of is a crummy little place in a strip mall that is your basic generic pet store. They have some saltwater fish but no rock that I am aware of.

If there is some other place that I am not aware of and you would like me to go check it out to save you the drive, let me know.

Jim

Hawk, that is /was the place.I just found the they are out of business due the last hurricane.

Is all gulf rock junk too? I have seen some really nice pictures of tanks done using rock from tampa bay liverock and from the other fellow which is like floridarock.com or something... I know the rock is heavier than say fiji and it has pests at times... any other reasons though? I read the tampa guys placed millions more pounds of rock in recently... they must be selling a lot of it.

Ive got some gulf rock as well as fiji and other random stocks so far I like it all, gulf and caribbean stuff doesnt seam as porous as I would like but its usually cheap and has some neat hitchhikers that survive, sponges and the such. I have been told by a few live rock aquaculturer's (SP??) that current rock has been below par due to the storms blowing through, a few are closeing and a few where switching to just selling base rock. I havent bought from tampa but have heard rave reviews from everyone i know that has rock from them.
