So I've have a few bags of "live sand" sitting at home that I _was_ hoping to use in my 115 gallon. I'm sure this stuff has a ton of die off, but I'm going to be transferring the contents of a 40 gallon into the 115 gallon. Is there any way to clean the sand really really well so I can add it to the 115 right away or is that just going to be wasted effort?

Had the same thing happen. Two buckets of "live sand" I let sit too long.
Used a few buckets outside, filled with a little sand- circular washed it until the water was clear then rinsed throughly with saltwater.
Took much longer than expected, but I wanted to make sure the sand was clean. Would have been more effective to buy new sand if you know where it is cheap. The Live sand you will be moving from the other tank will be more than enough to seed it.

an hour. I washed 140 lbs of sand in two large buckets. I probably overdid it, making sure it was clean.
