Thats what i meant when i said it would help with the nitrates.:)

Water changes will do the same..Just try to keep on top of everything and it should turn out okay. I am glad he has stayed put. Better water and the happier he will get:)

It's an M. doreensis. They like their columns buried in a deep sand bed. Anemones moving around indicates problems with flow, lighting or poor water quality. I suggest either a sand bed 2-4 inches deep or 'planting' it in a container - flowerpot, pipe etc filled with sand. In my experience, anemones seem to prefer a rough base to attach to i.e. rock rather than something smooth such as plastic or glass. Once it's attached that's part of the battle won as it won't feed until it is. Lighting shouldn't be an issue just yet as I've seen these things attached and expanded at dealers under standard flourescents. If the lighting was the only problem I'd expect it to attach and 'walk' towards the light, not just let go and drift around. Check your water parameters using quality test kits. I'd check for ammonia, Nitrite and Ph. If your ph test kit is as innacurate as you say then get another with a narrower range. I'd also check S.G with a refractometer if possible. Anemones don't respond well to large water changes so that is also something to consider. If you can get the anemone to attach and feed then it's fairly happy and it buys you some time to make sure that everything else is spot on.
 
Oh No! I was totally fed up with the Nitrates and did about a 30% water change yesterday. I was doing small changes twice a day and not getting it to come down enough. I did add the protein skimmer (I know it's not an immediate fix). The Nitrates were at 20 last night, which is a long way from 100+. I have also added a sunpod 150W HQI, it has 6 white and 6 blue LED's. The anemone has stayed put since I buried it. I had about a 2" SB and removed a piece of rock that was in front of the nem. I pushed up some sand to make that area about 3.5" deep and then dug a hole. Once he got situated in the hole, and opened back up, I pushed some sand around him. He has not moved since and he is eating well. I think (hope) he's going to be OK.

Hi Lisa...

Good to hear it is down to 20....You got it way down. And my anemones do just fine with 20% water changes weekly. And i have had to do some back to back before with no problems from them. But you should be good now anyways. Just feed lightly and the light will help it as will the feedings and the fact that he is attached and not moving. Hopefully that will be the most drama you will have to face with it..:)

Mine had never really stopped feeding, it has been in my tank for 2 months (since Sept 5th), and never attached.
But, I can't think of any time that someone put food in my mouth that I didn't eat it either!

Thanks to everyone who helped!!! I am very happy to report my nem has stayed put for a couple of weeks now. It has stayed buried, but it does move a little from side to side. And, now it is hosting my two percs!!! It makes all of this worth it...
