LTB Chiller

My wife likes to keep the place at 80F so I'm scr3wed. The temp hits 85 and my sps hate it.

Does anyone have anything laying around that will lower the temp of 100gal of water 4 or 5 degrees?

Thank you,

BK

I have 6 fans blowing across the top of the tank. I would have to open the stand to get some air moving down there...

I found one,

1/3 HP
1 year old

$250

Sounds like a good deal. They guy will even let me check it out in my own place and if I don't like it he'll take it back.

do you have those thermaltakes runing yet?

I have 2 of them blowing on my 175 and the reflector is not even warm at the end of the day
not to mention the mag 7 and sedra 3500 in my tank

I have 4 of them running and they do not do much at all because of the huge canopy. I did not want any holes on the sides so I have them sucking out air from the top and the large window blower is blowing air across the tank. If I leave the canopy open the temp drops 3F... that's not an option since I have VHO actinics mounted to the door...and it's ugly.

I want a more stable temp. anyway so this may be the best option. I might even be able to loose the loud window fan with the chiller on...

BK, you gotta flip those around dude, if you keep sucking wet *** salt air through them they'll be garbage in no time

blow air into the tank from outside...its not like its airtight, so the air will get out

I had them the other way and they did not do a darn thing. They are 40" above the tank and the wife is killing me with the sauna... I swear, if the temp drops below 80F even one degree she knows... all the pumps and lights keep the tank 4 to 6 F above ambient temp so I'm f@#$ed any way you look at it...

your wife would not like my house. i keep it around 67 in the winter. it is 100 years old and it is really expensive to heat so the auto therm is 67 during the day and cools down to 62 at night.

My wife will turn the air off and let it get to like 90 when I'm not home. I have a chiller but it can't even keep up with ambient temperatures that high. I have a controller to kick the lights off which has saved my @$$ and hers more than a few times.

Once I finish my hood I'm going to link it to a duct that will blow the the warm humid air into my attic during the warm months and into my heating duct during the winter months. Any HVAC experts see a problem with this?

Yeah she works nights, so when she comes home in the morning and thinks its cool enough, she'll turn off the AC completely rather than adjust the thermostat. She sleeps during the day a doesn't even notice when the temp creeps up. My lights come on at 2pm (2-250 watt HQI) so on a good summer day, when I get home around 8pm and she's still sleeping, it can be well over 90 in the house.

I have a chiller I didn't end up using if you are still looking for one. It looks like you found a nice one, but if you are still looking let me know.
