LumenMax reflector?

What do you guys think about this reflector compared to the LumenBright?

They are both good reflectors. The Lumen Max is designed to throw a wider cone of light and is better for tank foot prints greater than 24". If you have a wide bottomed tank, the Lumen Max might be a better choice. If your 75gal is 24" or less in width, the LumenBright would be a better choice.

Mike at reefspecialty.com would be a good person to ask which reflector would be best for your application. He can give you good guidance on how high off the water either reflector should be mounted. The LumenBright needs to be 16-18" off the water to focus the light appropriately.

Actually its a LumenMax Elite reflector. Not sure what the difference is between this one an the regular LumenMax (maybe the hammertone). Does hammertone really make that much of a difference?

All of the lumenmax reflectors are made with the new hammertone-looking material. It's not actually hammertone though, it's some new goofy german aluminum. Sunlight Supply re-did their entire product line with the new stuff. So the difference between the "elite" versus the "lumenmax 3" is size. The elite is like the regular lumenarc, where the older 2 and 3 models are like the lumenarc mini.

Is a textured reflector better than a non? The benefit is supposed to be reduced "hot spots" or places in the tank with extremely concentrated PAR. Supposedly this material also spreads the light out a bit better (more uniform) due to the random light reflection. Non-textured reflectors supposedly penetrate the water deeper, since the reflected light is more straight and predictable.

I'd go with lumenbrites if you can mount them up really high and you have a deep tank (30" or more). Otherwise I'd look into the lumenmax or lumenarc products. No matter what you end up with, you can't go wrong with any of the advanced reflectors.

Agreed. On a 75g I wouldn't worry about which one you get. You will be happy regardless.
